Sarah's Vintage wedding at Rafferty's Resort Lake Macquarie
Vintage has been quite a popular theme for the past couple of years.  Who can forget collecting all the vegemite jars to display the garden flowers?  Or, who can remember scavenging the local op shop for Grandmas crystal cut pieces?

Today we are sharing these images of Sarahs and Mitch's wedding at Raffertys Resort that we styled for her in February.  Her wedding ceremony featured burlap and lace covered Mason jars overflowing with babys breath, a rustic arch with flowers and twine by the wonderful Peter Herd Florist.

Make sure you leave a comment below if you love this wedding!

White folding chairs, and a rose petal aisle were arranged against the magnificent backdrop of Lake Macquarie.

Paramount Event Hire created a lemonade stand out of our wine barrels, with our wooden plank across the top on which we rested the refreshments provided by Sarah.  Our drink dispenser and wine party buckets ensured that Sarah's guests were kept hydrated with cool drinks.

Our french provincial signing table, with our Tiffany chairs completed the outdoor vintage style for ceremony.  Once inside the reception, Sarah provided thongs for tired guests feet and our black board sign. 'A little treat for your dancing feet.  Grab a pair and leave your excuses under the table'.

The reception also featured a delicious grazing table of exotic cheeses and assorted hors doeuvres.  The bride and groom wanted a cocktail style reception - guest tables were decorated individually with a selection of vintage pieces, burlap table runners, and fresh flowers by Peter Herd.

Our vintage ladder took pride of place at the entry and was styled with tealights and fresh flower heads.  Whilst our peg board proudly displayed vintage photos of family.

The mistakes brides make when choosing a wedding day stylist - Part 2.
Continuing on from a chat last week with our future bride Sarah, we thought we would share a few more hints and tips that she has found helpful so far….We would love to hear your feedback, if you have something to add, make sure you leave a comment below.

“You will set up my wedding the night before, won’t you?’As much as we may love to be given access to your venue the day before your wedding, often function centres will not confirm access until a couple of days before your event. Sometimes the venue will book a function the day before at short notice also.  Is it wise for you to get stressed over this? Sarah, says no, that is why you hire a professional wedding stylist to install all of your wedding decorator items.  Stylists expertise lies in executing this routine every weekend, and will know how much they can get done in the time frame given.  They also have access to additional staff incase a luncheon is booked the day of your wedding, and the reception venue has allocated a 2 hour turn around of your room. (Yes, it does happen! All hands on deck go go go!) I will suggest that you let this conversation play out between the stylist and the function centre regarding the access times - the great thing is by using a professional, it will leave you with more time to focus on other areas of your wedding that you have more influence over - like perfecting your wedding day speeches!

'You have to do what?...'

At the conclusion of the night when your loboutins are making your feet throb, and you're eagerly waiting in the soft light on the steps of your reception venue, for your limousine to sweep your way to your honeymoon suite to celebrate your first night together.  You have one last look over your shoulder at the remnants of the day that you have poured every available moment into. You'll see all the wait staff packing up all the glassware, removing all the cutlery, blowing out all the candles.  Occasionally,  at the end of your wedding the function centre may request that the wedding stylist comes in and removes all the wedding decorator items at midnight.  A good question to ask your wedding decorator if there 'will be an additional fee for the midnight pickup’?  Often the wedding decorator may only have an hour to dismantle and pack up all of the styling items which were used at your wedding, and may have to roster additional staff in order to fill this requirement.  Aren't you glad you had the foresight to organise someone else to do this for you, as you are now kicking up your heels!

I hate the bureau of meteorology!
Are you having outdoor ceremony?  We would all love to think that the weather is going to be glorious,  and it would never rain,  the sun always be shining, and all the guests would mingle perfectly on our wedding day.  However, lamentably with unpredictable weather, especially in the summer months, it is essential that you discuss a backup plan that includes where the wedding ceremony is going to be hosted in case the heavens open.  Sarah found that some function centres will hire a room to you for an hour or so in case you need it for your wet weather alternative.  Generally you need to book and pay for this in advance regardless of whether you end up using this service, or not. Or, you may be one of the lucky Brides who's reception venue can also double as your wet with the alternative.  Always check with your reception venue first before looking at alternative options.

Mel and Greg's stunning wedding at Fort Scratchley

Every so often a wedding comes along that has been so long in the planning, that you cannot believe that it is finally happening!  Mel and Greg's wedding at Fort Scratchley on Friday 1st November, was one such celebration.  We absolutely loved assisting Mel with styling and decorating her wedding.

Mel chose a stunning sophisticated theme of Black, beige, white, crystal and mirrored accents.  Mel chose beige tablecloths with a faint sheen, ruffled beige bridal table skirting, with beige and white chair tie back ruffles, finished with a round diamante buckle on the white Tiffany chairs

Are you planning a beach ceremony - issues brides fail to consider

Azure blue ocean, gently lapping waves, palm trees swaying gently in the breeze, golden sand stretching to the water's edge.  All your guests barefooted on the sand, casually waiting for you and your man to saying your personalised vows under the beautifully draped bamboo arch.   Got the idea?  STOP!

Is it only me, but have you noticed that only picture perfect images of beach ceremonies seem to be promoted on Pinterest?   Tranquil, perfect tropical vistas, with not a frangipani filled breeze in the air, everything arranged beautifully on the beach.  Not a stray blow dried hair in place! Unfortunately, sometimes,  this is not really the reality….

I had a really interesting conversation in the Paramount Event Hire Showroom with one the Hunter Valley' s most prominent celebrants -  Fiona from Heart Felt Occasions.  Fiona made a comment that really resonated with me  - she stressed the importance of the wedding ceremony for setting the scene and tone for your the rest of your wedding day.  Fiona commented 'I have seen so many couples skimp on such items such as chairs for their guests, often borrowing mis-matched ones from friends.  Or not paying any attention to decorating the aisle - a simple bamboo arch, or carpet that signals to the guests exactly where you will be walking down the aisle and 'here comes the bride'.

Marquee Wedding or Event - 12 tips you must know

Last week we heard of a very unfortunate story of a bride that bought her marquee for cocktail wedding reception off ebay.

The bride had spent hours agonising over minute details of her wedding day.  She had paid SO much attention to her bridesmaids dresses, wedding flowers, vintage reception decorations, the hand crafted invitations.  She looked absolutely stunning on the day, surrounded by her bridesmaids and waiting nervously for her gorgeous groom.  Yet, for her romantic vintage wedding in the Hunter Valley, it was ruined, when the cheap, flimsy, online purchase crumbled in the horrendous rain and wind that swept through just before the nuptials were about to commence.  Umbrella anyone?  No, needed more like Noah's Ark.  NOT, like the marquee featured in this video, this one is professional.

Was the marquee up for the job?  Was is sturdy enough to handle gusts of wind?  What were the consequences if it had tumbled away, and injured guests?  There is a reason why there are professional event hire companies,  that install marquees every weekend, and professional Wedding Co-ordinators that organise them every weekend; would you go to your high school math teacher to get your tax done?  No, I didn't think so.  Not to mention you and your guests will be left stranded in the pouring rain, without cover.  Where do you go now?  Did you have a back up plan?  Great start to a wedding, huh?

Vintage by the Seashore

Vintage by the Seashore was the inspiration behind Sarah and Nathan's beautiful ceremony last weekend at King Edward Park.  Paramount Event Hire was fortunate to work with the talented Jade from Jade McIntosh flowers, whom created a classic combination of lace, vases and fresh flowers to adorn the sides of the white Tiffany (also known as chiavari) chairs.  Sarah arranged for Paramount to place a small black board in the garden bed, near the ceremony site, she even provided us with witches hats to place on the ground so there was ample room for her cars to pull up at the Park.

The Reception then continued on at Cooks Hill SLSC, were Garth Ashford's team from Talulah's at the Junction created a divine cocktail style menu.  Paramount Event hire bought in white Tiffany chairs, cocktail tables and bar stools.  The bride requested that the Paramount Team cover some of the honour boards in the club, and install fairy lights around the balconies and dance floor area.  Whilst Jade McIntosh completed the Vintage inspired centrepieces.

Hi Louise!
Thank you so much for everything!
What an amazing day!
We had the best day ever and everything was perfect!
The surf club looked great!

Thank you again Louise,
Just amazing!

Hello Brides! Anything Vintage is all the vogue at the moment.  It would appear anything re cycled, borrowed from days of yester year, items that evoke wonderful childhood memories are incredibly popular at the moment.

But the Styling team at Paramount has noticed a distinct trend towards either 'Country / Rustic' Vintage, or French Vintage.  Which one are you?  We would love to hear!  I have included some pics of our items that come under 'Country / Rustic' Vintage.

These will be on our website very soon!
